Make IT Craft Fair and a new addiction

A Few weeks ago my friend Sarah from Stuffed Duck went to the Make It craft fair. She has been going for a while but this was my first time. Within a few moments of getting there I fell in love with a wonderful lady who was doing free tutorials around decoupage on MDF. The lady doing the tutorial actually has a blog of her own http://iveartinmysoul.blogspot.co.uk/ and she is one of the best teachers I have come across in a while so give her our support!

Here are some of the other lovely things that they had on display, I loved the Steampunk draws so much I made Sarah hunt down the paper with me so that I could take it home and try it on my sewing draws!

I am now seriously addicted to this and on the hunt for some Treasure Gold!

Simple Steampunk

So for those of you who don't know what steampunk Google it!

It has become one of the most inspiring and fun things I have come across. I have an entire Pintrest page dedicated to it here. It is a completely engulfing world which has also inspired me to read authors like Kady Cross's Series (I am completely addicted) and Jason G Anderson Gears of Wonderland (I am seriously willing him to write another book).

I was also talking to a friend about films which have taken on the theme and there are actually quite a few, if it be consciously or not. Van Helsing, Brothers Grimm, Wild Wild West, The Prestige, The Golden Compass, Sleepy Hollow and arguably a lot more films which draw on aspects of it.

One of the reason I love this world is because it inspires things from this

So when I came across this tutorial from one of my favorite bloggers I couldn't resist! It is so simple and quick and the effect is simply stunning. Quick Crafts with Metal Tape

Here are a few of the tests I have done, I think I am getting a little carried away now though, I want to cover everything in this now! I am having to have a serious amount of restraint.

I tried using the black as was suggested in the tutorial but the colour looked a little bizarre to me, pick whichever you want though, and when it comes to the size of the strips make sure to vary it otherwise it looks a little to neat

Have fun creating!

A day of flour and cheese

So yesterday we are headed over to the gorgeous Fae's for what I am told is an annual party. I have decided to make three things to take:

Pizza balls

Quiche

Blue cheese twists

For Quiche all you need is

Plain Flour
Hard Margarine
Lard
Three Eggs
A block of cheese
A splash of milk
and if you want a type of cooked meat (Ham or Salami we use)

1. Take 8oz Plain flour, 2oz Margarine and 2oz Lard and rub them together until they look like bread crumbs.
2. Add four tablespoons of water and mix until it forms a dough, place this onto a floured surface and roll out until about 1cm thick.
3. In an 8 inch crinkled pie dish place the dough and lightly press into all the edges. Cut off the excess dough from round the edges.
4. In a bowl crack open the three eggs and whisk until light, add a splash of milk (about 2 floz) and the grated cheese and mix together. You should still be able to see the cheese which has been grated but don't worry this will melt in the oven.
5. Pour the mixture on to of the pie dish and place into a pre heated oven (200oC or gas 6) for 20 - 30 mins
6. When the Quiche is golden brown on top remove from the oven and leave to cool for a few moments before serving.

We usually have it with new potatoes and veg.

You can also split this recipe into small ramekins which look amazing and can be ideal cold for a picnic.

Today I also made a few jam tarts with the left over pastry, pizza balls and Blue cheese twists.

Cake International

I love going out and finding inspirational events and places. Today was the cake international fair at the excel center in London. It was a fantastically fun event crammed with people though which made it hard to get to some stands. As I am doing this post from the mobile I have only attached a few images of the most impressive images so you get a feel for it , sorry if the images end up the wrong way round. More images and details when I get to a PC.
